Subject: [Tweeters] Is this a Solitary Sandpiper and A Couple Humorous

Hello all,
Earlier this morning I linked to a photo of what I called a Lesser
Yellowlegs taken at North Creek Park near Mill Creek yesterday. I just
received comment on my Flickr feed that it is instead a Solitary
Sandpiper, which would be a significantly rarer find in Snohomish
County from what I can tell. Anyone else want to take a gander at the
photos and give an opinion? I've posted links to the original photo as
well as a couple other angles that might shed some light on the ID
below. No shots or memories of the wings in flight, unfortunately.

As long as we're on the topic of possible misidentifying of birds,
I'll leave you with some humorous videos from a clueless Texas news
station:

http://www.ksla.com/story/17663818/is-it-really-woody

The funniest part is that they're so clueless they appear to
misidentify both a Pileated and Red-Headed Woodpeckers as a third,
completely different species.
