Greetings Tweeters,
I spent 1 hour on the refuge before work this AM. There are a lot of birds around and the change from day to day is rather amazing. In the hour from 0615 to 0715 I tallied 62 species. Probably the best sightings was a male NASHVILLE WARBLER in the maples by the Twin Barns, a Wilson's Warbler was in teh same area. Interestingly there were probably 75 or more Yellow-rumped Warblers along the gravel road to the Twin Barns; yesterday they were dominated by Aububon's types, today the vast majority were Myrtle types. Also new from yesterday were 90 Greater White-fronted Geese (none yesterday and gone by the time I left today) and a change in the shorebird mix and numbers with plenty of birds around. It's a good time to get out there! Not sure when, but I will get the total species list on ebird before too long...
Cheers and good birding,
Bill Shelmerdine, Olympia
