Congratulations go to the pair of Canada Geese at McLane Creek South of Olympia for the first goslings I've seen this year. ?There were two newly hatched babies on the little island at the nest in the middle of the Beaver Pond this afternoon. With only two babies present it's likely that there are more eggs to hatch. ?Unfortunately last springs goslings soon feel?victim?to?predators?and the parents left the area. ?Here's hoping for better luck this year. ? Also in attendance were a pair of Wood Ducks that have been there about a week. ?The Mallards were still there and today and there was a newly added Gadwall pair swimming together. ?Looks like McLane Creek will be a busy waterfowl nursery this summer and viewing is great because the scale is small. ?I just made a quick stop today to check on the water birds but a Common Yellow Throat posed on the hand railing for a great view lasting a minute or so until someone coming along from the other
direction flushed it. Remember your Discover Pass at McLane Crk. ?
