Tweeters,
I walked the refuge trails yesterday morning. Things certainly seemed to have slowed from the previous week, but still plenty to see. Shorebird and warbler numbers were down, although the tide was not good for really judging the shorebird conditions. There were at least 5 Yellow Warblers and 5 Wilsons Warblers around so birds are still moving in. Probably the most interesting was a male Eurasian Wigeon. Across the highway along Nisqually Cut-Off Rd was productive. Two WESTERN KINGBIRDS were noted. One was along the fenceline at the first pull in and gate on the right, just past the old school house, now residence. The second was along fencelines beyond the end of Hartman Rd. Also off of Hartman was a flock of 25 Canada Geese, 20 Cackling Geese, and 3 White-fronted Geese. The rest was pretty routine.
Cheers and good birding,
Bill Shelmerdine, Olympia
