To follow up on Bob Flores's report for Sunday, I was on the beach
near Grayland Saturday (4-28) afternoon and watched multiple long,
loose skeins of Greater White-fronted Geese heading out over the
ocean, coming from the direction of Willapa Bay. I estimate the
numbers I saw at about 1500 so it sounds as if the numbers picked up
on Sunday. I stopped by Tokeland and checked out Graveyard Spit around
5 p.m. where there were small numbers of Greater White-fronted Geese
and some Brant at rest. There were still about 75 Marbled Godwits
there, down from the 400 the previous Saturday. One WHIMBREL was also
on the spit.
