Hey - I spent the day looking for shorebirds at some spots in Yakima County
today.

There is a little bit of mud at Wenas Lake - not much, but I did find a
single SOLITARY SANDPIPER and two LEAST SANDPIPERS as well as KILLDEER and
SPOTTED SANDPIPERS. There were also two GREAT EGRETS.

At the Walmart pond on Nob Hill Blvd. in Yakima, there were only Killdeer
and one Spotted. That was one Spotted more than the Costco pond in Union
Gap.

At a pond that I've seen named as Kerry's Pond, SE of Granger along I-82
(but viewed from Yakima Valley Hwy), there were several BLACK-NECKED STILTS,
a lone LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, two LEAST SANDPIPER, Killdeer, and Spotted.

At the Grandview STP, more Killdeer and Spotted Sandpiper, but at the grassy
pond at the east end, there were more BLACK-NECKED STILT, a whole flock of
LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, two WILSON'S PHALAROPES, two LEAST SANDPIPERS, and
two SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS. Also, one each of GREATER and LESSER
YELLOWLEGS.

I struck out on the Burrowing Owl on US-97, and Toppenish had very little
water and no shorebirds.

So, 10 shorebird species for the day.
