Monday evening (8/6) I checked the osprey nests at Dunn Lumber on Hwy. 99 and the Meadowdale softball complex in Lynnwood.??I?cannot see a baby in the Dunn Lumber nest, but baby-like begging?sounds were coming from the nest after the male took off and the?female looked as though she might be feeding a?baby.
?
The baby at the Meadowdale nest now stands straight up and looks out of the nest.?? It was watching me as I walked under the nest.? I'll have to start going back?earlier in the day to see if it is fledging.?????
?
I have read that osprey spend their first year in Central America.? If so, the Meadowdale baby I photographed two years ago should have migrated north if it?survived this long.? Does anyone know if second?year osprey return to?where they were hatched or do they just?take up residence in the first area that looks good once they enter?North American air space????
