Tweeters,
A group of us saw a small group of ptarmigan yesterday, around 1 p.m., from
the Mt. Fremont lookout. A hen and two chicks and a likely fourth bird were
about 250 m. beyond the lookout, below the ridge that runs out from the
lookout toward a well hidden pit toilet facility. On the hike up, we saw
two rosy-finches, which stopped briefly on the talus before flying off.
Also a Prairie Falcon soaring near the lookout, and several Clark's
Nutcrackers feeding actively on Whitebark Pine cones along the trail.
Good birding, Bob
