Tweeters, We're going to get some birding time in the Port Townsend area
this weekend! We're fairly familiar with the well-known birdy spots, but the
advice I'd like to get is this:

When is the best time-tide-wise-to view the currents off Point Wilson, and
also to take the ferry over to Whidbey as passengers? In Opperman's ABA
guide, Bob Norton writes: "Currents run strong when tides are changing."
Does this mean at high tide? Or an hour before or after? It also says "At
slack tides there is little feeding activity." I googled 'slack tides', but
only found pages about slack tides as they affect scuba divers, fishers,
clammers, and crabbing. Also, it is the new moon on Friday. Don't know how
that affects these things. Any local experts care to weigh in? Thanks!
