Hello birders!
Several months ago, I, with the help of Rainier Audubon, applied for a 'Wild Spaces in City Places' grant from King County. The grant has been secured and several of us have been busy planning to install several artificial snags within the Green River Natural Resources Area in Kent. Our first snag raising event will be held this Saturday, August 18th at 9:00am.
One of the snags will be installed on an island located in the main lagoon. Volunteers are encouraged to bring kayaks and/or canoes to help transport materials to the island. Boats are not required but helpful. The other snags will be accessible by land.
Please join us for a day of wetland restoration and boating! Water and snacks will be provided. Bring your own lunch if you desire.
This is a special opportunity to gain access to parts of the GRNRA that are closed to the public. Volunteers are more than welcome to remain after the event and boat and/or bird the interior of the ponds for awhile.

When: Saturday, August 18th. 9:00am-Noon.
Where: 21615 64th Avenue South, Kent, WA 98032. This is the address for the Kent Animal Shelter located near the entrance gate for the work party. We have been given permission to park in the Anixter building just north of the animal shelter.
What to bring: Boots and gloves. We may get a bit muddy and wet on the island.
Directions to the site: From WA-167: Take exit S 212th exit and head west. Take a left on 64th Avenue South. Destination will be approximately 0.3 miles on the right. The parking lot is located in the Anixter building just before the animal shelter.
