hi:

went up to the falls near dusk to see if we cd spot any black swifts going
to nest. did see one such swift overhead, along w/ vaux's swift and some
barn swallows but whether any of the enigmatic black swifts went to nest
remains an enigma. but the treat of the day turned out to be a slow,
circular flyby shortly after sunset by the male with him kipping up into
the ivy under the top of the cliff in front of the lodge. at the same
time, his comely spouse was ensconced in a cozy nook on the rock face about
a third of the way between the viewing platform and the lodge. second
night in a row she's been there. when it got too dark to see much else she
was still there, perhaps settling in for the night.

have not seen any kids since a few days after they fledged, but that could
be a result of all the construction going on in the river above the falls.
construction should be done by next march. thank goodness. was nice to
see both adults at the same time.

regards,

t
