Harsi and Ezra Parker found 3 juvenile Solitary Sandpipers at Mukai Pond on
Vashon Island this morning.

On the way back from the Sounders game this afternoon (Sounders win 2-0), I
saw many phalarope spread out in weed patches along the Fauntleroy-Vashon
ferry route. They've been seen both along the Fauntleroy-Vashon and
Tahlequah (Vashon)-Pt. Defiance ferry routes over the last week.

Gary Shugart saw many Wednesday: "Tonight on the 6:30 boat there were
phalaropes strung out along a rip as far as I could see with binos to the
east. Counted 70, but there were more. The close ones were red-necked and
most others appear to be, but many too far to see. I'd go with red-necked
for all based on previous boat surveys. The other possibility is red, but
these are rare in the Sound and usually don't occur until later in Dec.
They are feeding along rips and associated with vegetation - lots of sea
lettuce and other algae forming rafts."
