Subject: [Tweeters] Cowlitz County--Wilson's Phalarope

Hi Tweeters,

At 2:30 PM today (8/20/12) there was a single WILSON'S PHALAROPE at the
Longview STP. It was in the pond nearest to Coal Creek Road, but near the
berm that separates this pond from the next one east. I walked out on the
dike that separates the STP from the slough to scope the bird. These ponds
are no longer in use and have been evaporating all summer until there is
finally a bit of mud in the most northwest corner. This held only a SPOTTED
SANDPIPER today, but does hold some promise for fall shorebirds as the
season progresses.
