Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 23. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On August 20 a PIPING PLOVER was reported at the South Jetty of the Siuslaw
River. It could not be relocated. A TENNESEE WARBLER was seen August 22 at
Whiskey Springs in Deschutes County. On August 21 a WHITE-WINGED DOVE was
photographed in Brookings. The next day a bright male BALTIMORE ORIOLE was
in Brookings. The Indian Ford Campground NORTHERN PARULA continues to be
seen.

On August 19 a YELLOW-BILLED LOON was at Depoe Bay. A STILT SANDPIPER was
seen August 20 at Ridgefield NWR. On August 19 a FRANKLIN?S GULL and an
ARCTIC TERN were at Smith/Bybee lakes in North Portland. The FRANKLIN?S GULL
continues to be seen. Over 100 WHITE PELICANS and over 100 GREAT EGRETS are
now at Smith/Bybee.

On August 20 a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER was at the Koll Wetlands in Beaverton.
A SWAINSON?S HAWK was photographed August 18 along Diamond Hill Road near
Harrisburg. A BREWER?S SPARROW was seen August 19 at the Philomath Sewage
Ponds. That day a RUDDY TURNSTONE, STILT SANDPIPER, SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER,
WHIMBREL, and COMMON TERN were at Fern Ridge Reservoir. At least 57 WHITE
PELICANS and 37 GREAT EGRETS are now at Fern Ridge Reservoir. Over 150 WHITE
PELICANS were at Wickiup Reservoir south of Bend August 19.
