I think shorebirds are great and used to know many species quite well when I lived in California. However, I just want you all to know that it's almost migration
time for turkey vultures, those big masters of the air. Look up while you're seeking those little guys on the mudflats.

When I did the in-depth study out at Salt Creek I spent from mid-September to mid-October for the most part. However, the locals would tell me of flocks that had
passed by in late August and early September, so they are probably on their way. There weren't as many early on, but they were still in interesting flocks.
