Subject: [Tweeters] Wilson's Plover, yes, plus WW Black-backed Woodpecker

I arrived at Bennington Lake at noon, and it took me over two hours of
walking around before I got a glimpse of the WILSON'S PLOVER flying to the
southeast corner of the lake. I hightailed it back over there, but couldn't
find it. So, dejectedly, I trudged back towards my car, and stumbled upon
the stupid plover right at the boat launch. Excellent bird. When I left at
about 2:30, a couple of women were just arriving, and I presume they were
just able to walk down and tick that bird without any effort at all...

Then I headed out to Biscuit Ridge Rd. 0.2 miles after the cattle guard at
the top (and maybe past that, your actually on Thompson Rd.), I heard a
woodpecker tapping. There were several dead and dying trees up the bank on
the east side of the road, and I was amazed to see an adult male
BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER there.

So, a nice two rare birds for me in Walla Walla county. Hopefully tomorrow
I can find some of the more common birds :)
