The bitter cherries, oregon grape and flowering currant are going fast. Today I finally caught up with the Swainson?s Thrush that has been eluding me all summer. He just couldn?t resist the red-flowering currant berries and, in order to be sure the waxwings didn?t get them all, he had to show himself. And I was ready!
I have just finished building a gazebo to replace the blind in my yard but today, just to be sure, I put the blind in the gazebo and it really worked. The birds didn?t seem to know I was there in spite of my rapid-fire clicking of the shutter.
I have written a bit about the blind to gazebo change, with a couple of photos, here: http://josephvhigbee.com/
Photos of the thrush and others are here: http://www.pbase.com/jvhigbee/bgd
