Hey tweets, I have the only Seattle copy of Gene's book, "Birding in
Seattle and King County." The printer sent two advance copies this
past week, one of which I just mailed to Gene. The book looks
absolutely fabulous. The photographs of birds in action are stunning.
The maps are all brand-new, drawn with the latest GIS technology. The
frequency charts have all been updated and list all the rarities seen
in King County since the 1850s. Gene's prose is engaging, informative,
and thought-provoking. He's a fun guy to read. The birding hot spots
in the county are all described in detail. With all this info in your
pocket, you should be able to find birds galore anywhere in King
County. Wowza.

I will be carrying my copy around for the next week. If people can
spot me at the Fill and grab onto me before I can get away, they can
take a look at it. I warn you: I can be elusive!

The bulk shipment should arrive here around Sept. 15. Seattle Audubon
is accepting pre-orders - check the website for details.

Gene will be at the Nov. 5 WOS meeting to talk about his book and
about the birds of King County. There will be a reception for him at
6:30 p.m.; the meeting will start at 7:30. David Hutchinson (Flora &
Fauna Books) plans to sell copies at the meeting. - Connie, Seattle
