A couple of important notes to add to what Kevin Purcell posted:

1. There is NO public access to the river. The land along the river is private land, not part of the training center. You can see some birds from the last YTC gate before the road crosses onto private land.

2. If going, the training center roads are notorious for causing flats. I would highly recommend making sure you have 1-2 spare tires before venturing out there. I say 2 because more than 1 person has gotten multiple flat tires from a day of birding out there.

3. All passes have an expiration date of March 31, regardless of when purchased. If you purchase a pass in December it's going to be valid for 3+ months and if you purchase a pass in April it's valid for 11+ months. Passes cost 20.00.

Andy Stepniewski is probably the most versed birder for where to go on the Training Center. He'll probably chime in here shortly, but you can email him steppie at nwinfo.net for other help.

Good luck. It is a neat area.
