Hi Tweets,

12 of us enjoyed a nice day of birding with intermittently rainy
conditions, some sun breaks, breezy conditions and temperatures in the high
40's to low 50's degrees Fahrenheit.

Gog-le-hi-ti Wetlands: unfortunately we could not find the Slaty-backed
Gull, however we had great looks of a Barred Owl in the riparian stand just
south of the parking lot and along the dike road that runs parallel to the
train tracks. The surrounding buildings and rendering plant were covered
with gulls, mostly Glaucous-winged x Western Gull Hybrid and Glaucous
winged Gull. There were many Thayer's Gulls mixed in and two or three
Western Gulls. We also had nice looks of Ruby-crowned Kinglet,
Golden-crowned Kinglet, Brown Creeper, Fox Sparrow, Song Sparrow,
Green-winged Teal, Common Goldeneye, Red-tailed Hawk, American Goldfinch,
Golden-crowned Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco. Pine
Siskin were seen flying around. One of our birders discovered a white
faced Canada Goose, slightly larger and thicker necked, then the
surrounding Canada Geese.

Hylebos Creek Wetlands: we had great looks at an immature Sharp-shinned
Hawk. The woods were full of Golden-crowned Kinglet, Ruby-crowned Kinglet
and Pine Siskin. Other species heard and seen included Virginia Rail,
Black-capped Chickadee, Downy Woodpecker, Varied Thrush, Chestnut-backed
Chickadee, Eurasian Collared Dove and Bush Tits.

The Place of Circling Waters: plenty of waterfowl including Mallard,
Green-winged Teal, American Wigeon, Gadwall, Northern Pintail, Pied-billed
Grebe and American Coot. We had nice looks of Spotted Sandpiper, Northern
Flicker, Red-tailed Hawk and additional Pine Siskin.

Dick Gilmur Public Beach Access: the log booms were covered with Mew Gulls,
unfortunately no Bonaparte's. Three cormorant species, Double-crested,
Brandt's and Pelagic were seen. Both Barrow's and Common Goldeneye were
seen. As well Great Blue Heron, Bufflehead, Glaucous/Western and Thayer's
Gulls.

Julia's Gulch was very quiet in the early afternoon, we added Pacific Wren
plus additional species already seen.

Overall a very nice day given the forecast, with 54 species seen. Thanks
to all the wonderful birders who joined me and helped to spot many fun
finds.

Good birding,
