Subject: [Tweeters] Sapsucker in Seattle - Red-naped/Yellow-bellied/Hybrid?

Hi, Tweeters -

On Saturday morning, I saw this sapsucker from our house in View Ridge/Hawthorne Hills, just west and uphill from Sand Point/Magnuson in Seattle. It was not a Red-breasted, and could have been a Red-naped, Yellow-bellied, or some hybrid. I do not have the skill - nor did I have a close enough view - to tell these apart. Already shared these images with Seattle Audubon, who suspected Red-naped based on range, but of course could not confirm because of missing details in the pictures.

You can make out the red both on the throat (with black below) and on the head, the strong white and black lines on the head, and the slightly yellow underbelly.

Just thought you all would like to know in case the bird hangs around or shows up at Magnuson or the Fill.
