We have had quite the?sightings at the?marina, first the?snowy owl on 11/27 and a brown pelican today (12/6).??? The pelican flew in from the west at 2:00pm and landed in the water just south of the ferry dock.? It remained in the water for a?brief period before taking off and landing on the southwest dolphin of the ferry dock, where it spent the afternoon grooming.? It was still? there at 3:45 when I left to take sunset shots at?Marina Park.??Good views?of the pelican could be had anywhere along the?walkway between the fishing pier and the Senior?Center.?

For the past two days?a flock of dunlin has been hunkered down out of the wind on the marina side of the breakwater?at the southwest corner of the marina.? Good views can be had at Marina Park?from behind the?marina's south breakwater.? Look? for the colorful playground equipment, walk north to the breakwater, then look at the inside of the SW corner where the breakwater turns north.?

I have been keeping a close eye on our local?eagles since the sighting of an eagle carcass on the breakwater on 11/27.??My concern?is that it may have been one of the Pt. Edwards pair, which hang out at the marina.? ??The past two days I have seen a juvie and a sub-adult flying around town.? Today I saw a?lone?full grown adult on the piling by the ferry dock while I was photographing the pelican.? It took off and flew northeast to one of the remaining tall firs?on Hanna Prk Rd.??Two full grown adults?were perched together?on the tree at the end of Pt. Edwards Place in Woodway, one of the Pt. Edwards pair's?family trees. ?They took of for a brief sunset excursion across the Sound, then returned to somewhere south of Pt. Edwards.?
