Hi Tweeters,

I was able to watch the Summer Tanager to my heart's content with about half a dozen other birders, from around 1:10-2:00 this afternoon. It was visible from the sidewalk while looking through a white wooden fence along 43rd, just half a block to the west (I think) of Thackeray. I believe that this is a view of Henry's yard. The owner of the fence and intervening property joined us and was very friendly and even offered us coffee. Several of the folks from the neighborhood stopped by to chat and were all treated with views of the tanager. They all seemed to be very impressed by this beauty. Remember, if you go, we're all ambassadors for Birdland. Anyway, it was mostly hanging out on the suet feeder that is dangling over the BBQ on the deck. Sometimes it moved to the arbor on the left side of the deck. It stayed in view almost the entire time that we watched it. Thanks to everyone who posted; I wasn't expecting to get anymore lifers for the year.

Good birding,

Lonnie Somer
