"yes, but the footage is of eagles dragging goat kids over the edge of the

If you watch one of the videos linked in the email you are referring to you
are technically right. However, you will find that the eagle did drag the
goat kid over the edge - and it never let go.
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yz7FFlFy8eM) It was carrying the kid in its
talons. It in fact carried it all the way to its nesting site where it
dropped it directly into the nest. Guess you could argue about it "lifting"
the kid because it was a downward flight all the way. Whatever you wish to
call it, it's a fascinating clip.

Start at about the 5:00 time mark and go for the next several seconds.

yes, but the footage is of eagles dragging goat kids over the edge of the
cliff, not lifting them; and the video about the Bald Eagle & the fawn is
interesting because of how emaciated the carcass looks -- wonder of that was
an eagle kill or scavanged.

clearly the eagle in the subject footage got the child (or "child" off the
ground for a few feet, tho it never looked like it was going to make the
trees. but also hard to imagine that someone would try that on a real
child. curious footage in any case.

I've never seen anything that indicates a large raptor can lift much more
than its own weight (which is to say, a rabbit or hare, tho some large
ones).
