My son Alex and I tried unsuccessfully for the Citrine Wagtail on Tuesday
afternoon, Dec. 18. Unfortunately there had been snow covering the ground
since Sunday night. The landowner Frank told us that it had not been seen
for at least two days since the snowfall and that the wagtail only appeared
on bare black earth, never on any vegetation. There was virtually no bare
earth along the lane. We left after a couple hours. We discovered later
that the wagtail had been seen Monday morning, as discussed in an earlier
post, so some of what Frank told us proved not to be true. I don't know,
but I suspect it may have snowed more on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning -
at least it did in Vancouver.
