I birded the Bingen/Lyle area today in the hopes of finding a new bird to
live another day for B-A-D. I found four! They are: Acorn Woodpecker (the
furthest north they get I'm told), Lewis's Woodpecker, Western Bluebird and
Lesser Goldfinch. I dipped on White-breasted Nuthatch. I also had a
Slate-colored or Cassiar's Dark-eyed Junco in a flock of Oregon race DEJUs
at Balch Lake. I looked for Western Pond Turtle to no avail. The rains were
constant and there's snow above 1000 feet up the canyons. A REALLY cool
area of Washington that I've not visited before. As Arnold said, "I'll be
back!" BTW, I birded the Balch-Lyle Cemetery as well, but it was dead . . .
