Barbara Mandula (barbaramandula at alumni.brandeis.edu



I saw a similar pattern in the snow a few years ago while x-country skiing
in the Banff area in Canada. The naturalist ranger said it was probably a
great horned owl, which was consistent with the measurements I made of the
pattern. I could see the rodent's tracks ending where the owl swooped to
capture it. There was also a convenient tree stump where the owl probably
perched.
