Good evening Tweeters (regular and those lurking ... whom I met today...:))

A great day (first time for me and hubby) to the area. Beautiful day - mid 40's, overcast turning to an even brighter afternoon. Spotted several raptors on the way up - USR's (unidentified sitting raptors - better take the raptor class...)

Started at Eide Rd. (at Barb's excellent suggestions and directions - along with Hal Opperman's Birder's Guide to WA). One couple (the Camleen's (sp?) - hope you found Tweeter's ok...) spotted the first SEOW of the day just over the dike next to the first parking area by the big tree.

Then right by the parking area - several SEOW were working the area along with a few No. Harrier's (thanks to the Camleen's for the reminder about the white rump!!). I even captured a few flying and some thankfully sitting still for a portrait for this novice photog. The salt marshes/wetlands were full of action.

At Thomle Rd. - a bit quieter, but saw a few Bald Eagles, one Meadowlark, a Blue Heron along the creek/slough(?) as well as N. Harriers sitting on the ground. A SEOW or two along the way. There was a mesmerizing large flock in the distance (starlings?) doing the aerial hologram acrobatic work. Spectacular. White Crowned sparrows...one Spotted Towhee...others that will probably flit into mind after I post this. My mind is full from a lovely day of birding. Alas - no Snowies (may have to just go back to Ballard). Oh, speaking of white - how could I forget the large flock of Snow Geese and a couple of swans (?).

OWL in OWL a great first trip to these two new spots. Luckily my Christmas day "slip" didn't keep me down.

Hope I can get these photos presentable and posted soon - in some form or other.

Thanks to all who post such great, helpful information about these great birding spots!
