Happy New Year Tweeters!

I finally got to watch The Big Year a couple days ago from start to finish. What a great movie!! I hope there is going to be a sequel to it. I think I'm going to do my own little version of a 'Big Year' in 2013. I'm almost done with a major project I've been working on for almost a year now, and the thought of doing a 'Big Year' has been a big motivator to get this project done. Trust me, I'd rather be out birding than studying and studying for hours and taking test after test. Final exams are in early February and I can hardly wait to get this project over with. Birds here I come!!! Yahoo!!

So, with that in mind, what does one need to help make it the best big year ever? What is everyone - doing big year or not - using to keep track of species/date/time/place they see? What is the best iPad app to have downloaded and ready to go? What is eBird? (I hear that one a lot, I didn't see it at the apple store). I have Audubon Birds for iPad3 and I sure like that, but I'm always looking for other cool reference guides to download or books to take out in the field with me. Speaking of books, there are so many excellent books out there! Whats your favorite?

Happy Birding!!

Wendy
