Hi Tweets...34 people participated in the Grays Harbor CBC, with two people
watching their feeders. We had very good weather for a late December
day...no rain to speak of, low 40's, and no windy conditions. No records
were set, except perhaps for the number of Pine Siskins seen...4,031. We
had a total of 131 species of birds, counting Crow sp as a single species,
and total birds seen was 35,881.

Damon Point in Ocean Shores hosted 6 of the Snowy Owls seen, while two more
were found in the city limits, and the lone exception was found over by the
Ocean Spray Cranberry plant. The area of the cranberry plant was also host
to one of the 2 Palm Warblers, with the 2nd seen in the Scotch Broom across
from the Silver King Motel, again in Ocean Shores.

Some surprises for me: only 2 Sharp-shinned Hawks but 5 Cooper's Hawks, 36
Bald Eagles, only 3 Brown Pelicans, and no sign of the female King Eider
which graced our shores for 2 years.

If anyone wants a copy of the Excel spreadsheet, contact me off-list and
I'll e-mail it to you.

I want to publicly thank all of you who came from distant cities and from
nearby to participate in this CBC; I really enjoy your dedication and your
expertise, and birders are the nicest people!
