It has started already. My favorite hummingbird has renested in nearly the same branch of the camelia bush as last year! One egg, so far, just a quick glance tho, didn't want to disturb her. Too bad she chooses to nest elbow height right in the walkway to my back yard, it is w/in 50' of 3 hummingbird feeders. 2 of mine and my neighbors. Last year she nested there and had 2 chicks which both fledged and then a few weeks later I discovered another nest in the rhodedendron which produced another 2 chicks which fledged. If this is the same hummer, she does a good job owning my feeders. I rarely see any male anna's around and have only had rufus's twice last summer. I didn't realize how tuff these hummingbirds are, I have seen her chasing away crows, tackling other hummers to the ground, and harassing the chickadees and bewicks wrens that hop thru her bush near the nest. What a great sight and good news for my "bird habitat" friendly yard here in Ballard.
