Tweeters, Yesterday I made a quick trip to try for Clark Co. rarities of late as well as some decent weather for Feb. birding in general. The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was present still at 53rd and Harney in Vancouver. I then searched unsuccessfully for LESSER GOLDFINCH. Had single GREAT EGRETS in several spots in both Clark and Cowlitz Co's. yesterday. At Ridgefield NWR I did two passes of the "River 'S' Loop". I saw the imm. RED-SHOULDERED HAWK and found a SWAMP SPARROW just south and east of auto-stop 4 on the loop. There were 3 pairs of CINNAMON TEAL near the beginning of the loop. I did not find the recently reported VERMILION FLYCATCHER last seen near auto-stop #11 several days ago, BLACK PHOEBES reported between stops #9-10, SWAMP SPARROW reported near stop #10, nor SANDHILL CRANES reported in the refuge this winter.
