Yes, I have been trained as well.

My favorite story is of a Rufous hummer who was the first of the bunch
returning one spring. I hadn't seen any birds, the currant wasn't in bloom,
hence I had NO feeders out at all. None had been out since the previous
September.

As I was getting ready to leave for work, this guy came to the kitchen
window, then flew to where the feeder used to hang LAST YEAR. He repeated
that at least three times, once even touching the window... KNOCK, KNOCK I'm
back.

So of course I stopped, made up some sugar water, hung a feeder, and was
late for work.

Hey tweets.
Anyone else out there been trained by a hummingbird?

I was home sick, crashed out on the couch, when I saw movement outside the
kitchen window.
It was a male Annas Hummingbird, hovering in front of the window, seemingly
looking inside.
Having seen this before, and having been trained, I got up and checked the
feeder.
Yep. Empty feeder.
So, I made a batch of food and filled the feeder, as I had been trained to
do.

It seems to me that the only time I see the hummingbirds hover in front of
that window, is when the feeder is empty.

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
