Thanks Don for letting us know about the rarity of the white varied
thrush....I guess I shouldn't keep sightings to myself, but I had no
idea of the signifcance. I'll unfortunately have to bump your sighting to
the *5th* ever...this white thrush was photographed on the morning of
January 7th of this year on the Chehalis Western Trail in Olympia/Lacey. I
saw the bird for two consecutive days and haven't looked for it since.
Maybe it's still there. It was in the long thin patch of d-firs and
cottonwoods along the trail just north of the 167th St. trailhead.
