I am relatively new to Washington State and only heard about the Snowies while visiting Kopachuk State Park last weekend and fortuitously running into two helpful gentlemen who were there counting waterfowl. Sadly I've forgotten their names but they are likely reading this and they are the ones who pointed me here.
I plan to seek out the Snowy at Nisqually this coming weekend but would love to know of another quiet, out of the way location to see this magnificent bird. This "Tranquility at the Stanwood Snowy Sites" message has me intrigued.? I would really appreciate some help finding this location. I can assure you, I am a polite and serious birder and will not do anything to compromise the safety of the birds or the enjoyment of anyone around me. I've been keeping my life list since I was 9 years old and would be elated to add the Snowy Owl to my list and capture that picture in my mind.
I feel my blood start to boil reading of the rudeness people have encountered at the Boundary Bay and Ocean Shores locations and don't know if I could hold my tongue (or my tripod) in check if I were to encounter such behavior!
If anyone feels inclined to help me but wants to do so offlist, please email me at maresblucrew at yahoo.com
Thanks!
Mary
