I visit Wallace Swamp Creek Park almost every day.
Today I had two experiances that I've never had before.
I walked past a mud puddle and when I was no more than two steps away a Wilson's Snipe flushed from right in front of me. That was cool but not really all that amazing.
The other sighting really has me baffled.
I spotted something on a power line. Closer examination proved it to be a dead crow. In my flickr pictures you can see pictures.
One shows my first view. One of the close up pictures has been lightened hoping to show more detail. This poor fellow was a real bloody mess.
The only thing I can guess is that he hit the wire at high speed and met his demise. I'm curious as to why he didn't fall to the ground. It actually looks like one wing is hooked over the wire keeping it up there.
I don't have a BIG HONKIN' lens so this is the best I could do.
Can anyone give me information to explain this sighting?
There is no way (INHO) that there is any human intervention involved here, since the its in such an isolated area.
