I went birding today for a few hours and relocated the Northern Hawk Owl at the intersection of McLaughlin and Prewett Roads in NW Spokane County today.? I was able to get a few distant photos this time for documentation.
?
Also, today the north end of West Medical Lake had some free water and hosted some good ducks - American Wigeon, Redhead, Ring-necked Duck, Canvasback, and Lesser Scaup.
?
At the park at the confluence of the Spokane and Little Spokane Rivers, I managed to spot a Wilson's Snipe flying over the muddy rocks just off the boat launch.
?
I walked out the Little Spokane Natural Area trail at Indian Painted Rocks and found a very vocal male Pileated Woodpecker.? There may have been more than one as a Pileated seemed to always be in view along the trail.? Also, here was a flock of all three nuthatches and one Pacific Wren in the wet forest.

A brief stop at the Spokane River STP yielded Mallard and two female Wood Ducks.
?
Robins are everywhere right now and Red-winged Blackbirds are singing away.
