On our bi-weekly trip through the park today we stopped and birded for over an hour, at one point standing on the compost pile landing I observed a large, mostly white bird with black mottling, flying straight away, with heavy wing beats, the wings were wide, completely unlike any gull and the size was larger than any of the gull's around. It was flying low enough I could see black and white mottling on the back as well. I've not seen a Snowy in person but have seen plenty of large owls and it would fit the profile for an owl. The bird was heading south towards the lake.
