First, NO McKay's Bunting. A dozen diligent birders beat down the beach grass at the southeastern end of Damon Point in an unsuccessful attempt at re-locating the Bunting. I searched from 0900 to 1430. On a more positive note, great looks at 3 Horned Larks, 8 Snowy Owls and a speeding blur of a Merlin. At the base of Damon Pt at 0830 the remnant breakwater rocks had numerous Surfbirds, Black Turnstones and at least one Rock Sandpiper. On the return trip at 1500 the Queen Eider was seen well in close with White-winged and Surf Scoters. On the drive out, the Emperor Goose was mowing the golf course along Canal Dr. in association with 3 Greater White-fronted Geese and numerous Canada Geese. No bunting, but not a drop of rain all day.
