Subject: [Tweeters] Injured/sick gold-crowned sparrow: What to do

There is a goldcrowned sparrow hopping around my backyard, clearly in bad shape--it didn't fly away when I went out to fill the feeders and his face looks wrong somehow--maybe crusty around the eyes. It's all fluffed up, too, presumably against the cold. Is there something I should do for the bird? Bring it in to spend the day in a box with water and seed? Or, since it's sort of mobile, is that a mistake? And, if he has a damaged wing, clearly bedrest won't help. A hawk or cat is bound to get it if it stays out there.

?Help, Tweeters! (And I have no car so I can't *take* it anywhere.)
