Following several negative bunting reports, but encouraged by an improving weather report I decided to make the trek to the tip of Damon Point and do a little searching. I arrived at first light and spent a couple of hours searching. On my return trip I covered the perimeter of the point to the north, still no luck. I did not encounter other birders on the outer point, but there were a number of folks that were heading out as I was returning. Perhaps they had better luck.

Consolations included at least 5 (or 6?) Snowy Owls; the Queen Eider about a half mile out on the point, and the Emperor Goose was easily found on the golf course behind the cinema. Interestingly one of the Snowy?s was right in the area where the McKay?s Bunting was reported.
Cheers and good birding,
