Yesterday a few of us, from the solo shed on the road, watched some
Snowies come up onto the dike and onto various perches for the nightly
hunt. One of us may have seen one hop down from the dike, onto the
field, and grab a furry thing to eat. 2 of us did a little
digiscoping to record this treasure of an evening - we had dueling
Lumixes, but neither of us capturing anything to enter in any photo
contest, but pleasing us. Besides the birds in the photo set below,
we saw a pair of Shorteared Owls flying at each other as if to
display, and then they disappeared. A Shortear found prey as we were
driving away (about 6:20 p.m.) and flew with it across the road in
front of us. Northern Harrier action was viewed and Meadowlarks were
heard. There were a lot of Red-tailed Hawks on posts at 4:45 when I
arrived.
