The road side viewing?site?near the end of?Tholme Rd.?is open to the public, but?you?cannot walk across the fields (posted "no trespassing") to the far levee for a close view.? It is quite a distance from Tholme Rd. to the levee, ?so bring a powerful spotting scope or a big honkin' telephoto lens if you want to spot a snowy owl.?? A mature adult will stand out due to its bright white color, but an immature bird will?still be brown enough?to blend into the driftwood on the other side of the levee.???
?
If you have the proper?(DFW?) parking sticker,?you can park at the parking spot at the end of Eide Rd. and hike up on the levee.?? Sometimes a snowy owl can be spotted will be on the opposite (Tholme Rd. side) bank and sometimes one can be spotted on the same (Eide Rd. side) bank. ??
?
Some people have spotted snowy owls looking towards Tholme Rd from the end of Boe Rd., ?but l have not.
