Subject: [Tweeters] Glaucous Gull in Burlington

Dear Tweeters,

On a perfectly wretched day of wind and rain today (18 February 2012), I figured it was time to go looking at gulls from the comfort of the car.

At Skagit River Park in Burlington was a big flock of gulls, mostly Glaucous-winged, with a few dozen Mew and even fewer Ring-billed Gulls mixed in. Near the southeast corner of the flock, close to the river, was an immature GLAUCOUS GULL, perhaps a second- or third-year bird, with much grey on the mantle. This part of the gull flock was best scanned by taking Pease Road south from near the RR tracks, then going east on a lane that goes toward the dike, and which goes through several gates, which were open at the time. It would have been possible to access this part of the park by car from the main parking area as well.

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
