A female mountain bluebird is still present on the Columbia River side of Steigerwald NWR in Washougal. She was moving about within a 50 yd. range at the back gate to the dike. There was also an Orange-crowned warbler and several Yellow-rumps, and an assortment of the usual winter small birds. Also, along the dike was a nice female Pileated woodpecker. Near the entrance off of Hwy. 14 there was what appears to be a mated pair of beautiful Red-tail hawks, one with nesting material in it's talons. We caught an American bittern flying across the meadow, several Harriers, couple Bald eagles, American kestrel, quite a few Green-winged teals, Buffleheads, Gadwalls, a few Ring-necked ducks, Hooded mergansers, but no Tufted found anywhere that we could see.

Cheers,
