Hi Tweeters,

A friend of mine who lives just south of NE 65th on Wellesley
(is that Hawthorne Hills?) called us this afternoon and reported a bird in
her back yard that sounded like a Ring-necked Pheasant. She sent us photos
and we said, "Yes, a pheasant for sure." But I was looking at the photos
and the bird has a white "crown" stripe around its head, which I don't see
in the field guides. So is this a Ring-necked Pheasant or not? Is this
bird the result of some kind of breeding program in Washington state for
birds that will be released for hunters? We've provided a link to some
