Hi Tweeters,

Several people, including Dennis Paulson, e-mailed me to say the toe that
is removed on a captive duck or goose is the hind toe, not the one that
appears to be missing in my photo of the Emperor Goose. So the likelihood
that the Emperor Goose at Ocean Shores is a wild, free-flying bird is very
good. Its on my year list.
