With today's weather being forecast as cold but sunny, Les Carlson and I decided to do a Skamania County Big Day. Waterfowl numbers have dropped considerably since January and only a few rafts of scaup were found and we saw no swans at all. We saw few unusual or unexpected birds but were happy with a female RED-BREASTED MERGANSER at the Wind River boat ramp, RED-NECKED and CLARK'S GREBES from the Stevenson riverboat dock, VIRGINA RAIL at the Bonneville Hot Springs pond, a WESTERN GULL at Bonneville Dam and RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER, PURPLE FINCH and EVENING GROSBEAK at the St. Cloud Recreation Area. Our last bird of the day was one that eluded me last year, MARSH WREN, for number 66 for the day. Wilson Cady
