I forgot to mention this earlier, but on my afternoon dog walk yesterday
(Monday) through Licton Springs Park, we flushed up what I at first took to
be a flicker, based on the size and the fact that it was on the ground
initially, but it sat in a tree and glared at us for a moment and I was able
to see clearly that it was in fact a merlin - and a rather small one to
boot, so I'm guessing male.



I don't know if they've been seen in that park before, but it's worth
looking in the trees if passing through!
