Along the Lower Crab Creek Road in Grant County is a wonderful birding spot. It is called Nunnally Lake in "A Birder's Guide to Washington," but I think I was at Lenice Lake, not Nunnally. The lake I visited was reached by parking at a small gravel lot along the north side of Lower Crab Creek Road. After I walked over a barricade, I reached a cement toilet on the right. Then I walked a few hundred meters to a lake. There was a boat camouflaged in the brush along the lakeshore. I walked hundreds of meters to the west, as the lake gradually narrowed to a creek channel with riparian brush and small trees. This spot was 4.8 miles east of the stop sign at the junction of SR 243 and Lower Crab Creek Road. This was well to the east of a sand-dune area which appears to be the resort of various mounted recreationists.

So--was I at Nunnally Lake or Lenice Lake?

By the way, on my delightful trip to Benton, Walla Walla, Franklin, Columbia, Adams, and Grant Counties, I was amazed at how many recreational sites have beautiful, expensive maps posted on signs--with no "you are here" marks! Mapmakers ought to make sure that's one of their priorities, no?
